Bishop J.S. Spong elaborates on the ‘myth’ of Judas Iscariot.

The story of Judas Iscariot is yet to be properly understood according to retired Bishop John Shelby Spong who believes Judas, the man, never existed. In this interfaith lecture Bishop Spong examines the case of Judas Iscariot through historical and biblical lens, claiming that Judas Iscariot was but a literary figure created decades after the crucifixion to represent the orthodox Jews who were at odds with Christ-following Jews.
