It Starts Today:  A Grassroots Activist Network Dedicated to Fair & Candid Discussions on the Most Pressing Issues of the Day!

If you feel a sense of urgency, commitment and motivation, please join us.

I would like to personally invite you to join our new activist organizing group; It Starts Today! Strength is in numbers and we hope to welcome all like-minded folks who are committed to making this world a better place, but are unable to do it on their own. We believe that even the minutest of actions is noble and when joined with those of others can have a greater impact for; Better to Light a Single Candle than to Curse the Darkness. – Alan B. Nagy

Our Mission:

Should we just sit back while the world is brought to its knees by the ongoing conflicts between crusaders and fundamentalists of all persuasions; Should we shrug our shoulders and allow political and religious fanatics who are are so toxic to democracy and secular society to bring destruction upon the rest of us? Should we allow violent strains of aggression raise the temperature of prejudice and bigotry, leaving no tolerance for intermediate positions?

What are we to do, individually and as a whole?

Raimon Panikkar, the son of a Spanish Roman Catholic mother and a Hindu Indian father who became a Roman Catholic priest and a proponent of inter-religious dialogue in Barcelona challenges us to live life through good works, in peace, love and harmony with others. He once said that “It is difficult to make the world believe that black is white, that in order to affirm public peace one has to take up arms which destroy it and that for the good of the world one has to break all the sacred bonds of and between humans.”

“It Starts Today” is a movement that resonates with this core belief.

Unlike the popular movements that spurred Franklin D. Roosevelt to implement the New Deal in the 30s, there isn’t enough been done today to help rectify many of the problems millions of common folks face in their daily lives. We know that the problems are a lack of organization, a lack of connectedness, a lack of guidance, we’re too lost in our worlds worrying about our own to worry about anyone else.

This is why I decided to start this blog. It has done a world of good for me and I urge all of you to take some  initiative and try to help your world in your own little way, goodness knows how much it needs it.

IST-logoOur Logo

There are three figures appearing in the logo, the BLACK and WHITE figures represent any two opposing facets of human struggle such as, the right and the left, the rich and the poor, developed vs developing countries, religious conflicts.  In the context of the quote above, the Red figure here represents the guiding mission and spirit behind “It Starts Today”, that of broker and mediator between the world’s warring factions, groups, parties, cliques and sects that see everything in Black and White!

Please Help If you Can: We cannot do it Alone!

It Starts Today is an open forum dedicated to facilitating a positive, non-confrontational and enriching exchange of information, ideas and opinions between individuals regardless of their creed, political affiliations, nationality, economic and cultural backgrounds. We believe that by promoting fair and candid discussions on the most pressing issues we all face today be they religious, cultural, political, economic or environmental we can  help change the world for the better in the spirit of truth, reciprocation, co-existence and respect.
